| Gasification is the cleanest and most environmentally friendly way to convert coal and other carbonaceous feedstocks into valuable energy products. Gasification technologies are poised to meet many of our current domestic and global energy needs while allowing for the continued utilization of low cost and reliable coal resources. Currently, Emery Gasification Technologies of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA is developing an innovative and advanced fuel-flexible gasification technology that will allow multiple carbon-based feedstocks to be fed simultaneously to the Emery Gasifier, hence broadening feedstock opportunities for gasification. The Emery Gasification technology converts these feedstocks into a clean-burning and environmentally superior synthesis gas (syngas). This syngas can be burned as cleanly as natural gas. In addition to the syngas' ability to power gas turbines to meet growing electrical demands, the syngas composition from the Emery Gasification process, due to its high hydrogen to carbon monoxide ratio, will allow for cost effective conversion of the syngas to: Fischer-Tropsch liquid fuels, pipeline quality methane, methanol, ammonia, as well as a preferred syngas for extracting hydrogen for use in the petroleum refining industry or in stationary fuel cells. |
